Barn Rules and Guidelines

Rules and Guidelines for Students and Parents:

  • The entire family is welcome at our farm; however additional children must be closely supervised.
  • Students may be dropped off for lessons if they are over the age of 10. Please pick up your child promptly at the end of the lesson. Students under the age of 10 should have a parent remain on the premises.
  • All students must wear appropriate attire for their safety. Riding helmets and sturdy boots with a low heel are required.
  • Do not enter the barn or go near a horse unless you are wearing sturdy boots.
  • Parents, siblings, and guests are allowed only in designated areas. Please stay out of the way of the horses, and only approach with permission. Do not feed any horse.
  • Only designated staff may enter the pastures or holding areas of horses.
  • Please be aware that running, yelling, and throwing objects near our horses can spook them and cause injury to riders and instructors.
  • Please do not use a flash camera towards horses without specific permission.
  • Be aware that we have electric fencing on some parts of our property.
  • Do not smoke in the barn or within 50 feet of the barn.
  • Alcohol is not allowed or served.
  • When parking, please drive slowly and park in designated spots only.
  • If you bring a dog, it must be non aggressive and no excessive barking. It must be kept on a leash and under your control at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the horse areas. Please clean up after your dog.
  • Because we wish to make the most of our lesson time, parents are asked to limit their conversation to the students and to the instructors during our lessons. Any questions can be addressed before or after the lesson. Students are encouraged to focus on their instructor.
  • The instructor determines horse assignments based on rider level and personality. Horses are rotated throughout our lesson schedule in order to give them the best care, and specific requests cannot always be granted.
  • Students are expected to follow instructions and be respectful.
  • While on Pony Dream Farms property or at events representing Pony Dream Farms, we do not allow the use of drugs, alcohol, profanity or inappropriate behavior in language, music, or texts. Students, campers, staff, or volunteers violating this rule will be asked to leave our program.
